New Year, Same HD Insurance
Happy New Year! 2019 is off to a wonderful start for us at HD Insurance. We closed the year by joining the Meridian Chamber of Commerce and by helping the Idaho Diaper Bank save on their insurance. So far this year we’ve already helped 3 more nonprofits in Boise, including the Boise Farmers Market, save money too! Working with nonprofits is incredibly rewarding and it’s something we’re very passionate about.
Speaking of nonprofits, we have some exciting news. Doug Colwell, founder and owner of HD Insurance, was elected to the board of directors for the Idaho Nonprofit Center in December! He’s very grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to giving back to the quickly growing nonprofit community in Idaho.
Idaho Gives is coming up and we’re getting excited! If you haven’t heard of Idaho Gives, it’s amazing. It’s the largest single day of giving in the state of Idaho. Last year, they raised over $1.5 million and this year the goal is $1.7 million. HD Insurance has been an awards pool sponsor for the last few years and we’re looking forward to sponsoring again. The awards pool is just one way nonprofits can receive donations, to learn more you can check it out here!
Drew Colwell, our business and nonprofit focused agent, will be helping with the planning of this amazing event. He was invited to join the Idaho Gives planning committee and is very grateful for the opportunity. Over the last 18 months Drew has been learning the ins and outs of nonprofit insurance and is very excited to help plan and coordinate this incredible day.
If you’ve been following us or read our blog posts, you know we love nonprofits and the work we’re able to do with them. We know that any dollar we’re able to help a nonprofit save is a dollar that will be put to good use, serving the community we call home. We’re seeing just how vital nonprofits are right now, with so many furloughed workers struggling to get by the list of nonprofits who are helping out is endless.
Drew also presented at the Garden City Chamber of Commerce this month. He and Jonathon Shipley from AmeriBen talked about the #metoo movement. The presentation focused on how to create a respectful and healthy workplace by following HR best practices and how employment practices liability insurance can help businesses protect themselves and their employees. The presentation was well received, and they’ll be giving it again in September at the Meridian Chamber of Commerce!
With this year off to such a great start, we’re very excited to see what the rest of 2019 has in store for us. As always, if you or someone you know needs insurance for their business or nonprofit organization, we’d love to help!
